Common Exception Words
Common exception words are words that don't follow the usual English spelling patterns. Your child may refer to them as 'red words', as this is how they are taught in Read, Write Inc. Attached are the Year 1 Common Exception Words. By the end of the year your child should be able to read all of these, and try and write most of them.
